Auditions & Prep Classes 

 

If you are unable to attend the auditions due to a school or family event, please contact  Amanda asap to schedule an alternate audition time.

 

Step 1: Intent to Audition Form (link) - Due Friday, May 23 All new and returning dancers required to complete

 

Step 2: Prep Classes

 

Dancers are required to attend a minimum of 1 prep class to audition on May 31st. The prep classes are when dancers learn the audition choreography and work with the TDC competition team coaches on technical elements (turns, leaps, etc.). Choreography will be age-level appropriate; please have your dancer(s) attend the grade level prep class(es) they will enter in the fall; unless Amanda requests your dancer(s) to attend at a different time.   

 

Prep Class Attire and Appearance Guidelines:

  • Females: black leo or tight fitting top with black pants or booty shorts. Tights are required if your dancer wears shorts. 

  • Boys: black  shorts or joggers with black fitted top

  • Shoes - ballet, jazz, lyrical (ballet slippers are acceptable if your dancer does not have a lyrical shoe), clean tennis shoe for hip hop, tap

  • Hair - pulled back and out of face

  • Makeup not required for prep classes

  • Jewelry is not allowed (stud earrings for newly pierced ears are ok)

Step 3: Auditions on May 31st

 

Arrival Time: will be assigned and communicated on the 29th at the prep class and via email. Approximate audition timeframe (start/finish) will also be given.

 

Prepare: practice on your own, eat a healthy breakfast, bring water and a healthy snack.

 

Audition Attire and Appearance Guidelines:

  • Females: black leo or tight fitting top with black pants or booty shorts. Tights are required if your dancer wears shorts. 

  • Boys: black  shorts or joggers with black fitted top

  • Shoes - ballet, jazz, lyrical (ballet slippers are acceptable if your dancer does not have a lyrical shoe), clean tennis shoe for hip hop, tap

  • Hair - pulled back and out of face; options: bun, braids, ponytail

  • Makeup - “look the part”, performance makeup

  • Jewelry - round stud earrings allowed, no hoops, necklaces, bracelets, watches.


 

Step 4: Post-Audition: Communication | Summer Choreography Availability | Parent Meeting

  • By June 2: Amanda will communicate audition results via email. 

    • All dancers must accept or decline their team selections via the survey link provided in audition results email.

    • Complete your summer availability in the link provided to assist Amanda in scheduling summer choreography sessions.  

  • June TBD: Parent Meeting to cover team expectations, commitment, potential competition dates, open Q&A. Zoom will be offered and recorded for those who cannot attend in person.
